The Cabauw operational program monitors the profiles of wind speed and wind
direction, temperature and humidity along the 200 m Cabauw meteorological mast.
It also involves the surface fluxes of precipitation, short wave radiation and
long wave radiation. The instrumentation and datalogging is almost the same
as used for the Automatic Weather Station network in the Netherlands. Setup
and maintainance is performed in a close collaboration between the sections
KS-AO and MI-INSA of KNMI.
The Cabauw surface flux program aims at providing all components of the radiation
and energy balance at the grassland site Cabauw. This measurement program is
strongly related to the semi-operational programme caboper. This program also
includes shorter term experiments. At the moment a tower flux experiment is
running in cooperation with Wageningen Environmental Research (Alterra) and with the USA-NSF.
