Introduction

This site is maintained by the Team Earth System Science and Climate Change of WUR.

This team is a functional merger of the chair group Earth System Sciences of the department of Environmental Sciences of Wageningen University, and the team Land Atmosphere Interactions of Alterra.

Here we intend to provide information on :

Projects the team ESS/CC is involved in (For a complete overview of all projects see here and here )

JHM

Impact of precipitation uncertainty on discharge calculations for main river basins.

This website provides supplementary information to a research paper by Biemans et al. It contains analyses of discharge uncertainty caused by precipitation input uncertainty for 300 global river basins. The calculated discharge is compared with observations if information is available.
Bsik ME1
Integrated observations and modelling of greenhouse gas budgets at the ecosystem level in The Netherlands

In summary, this project aims to develop and advance the technical capability to measure GHG emissions, to validate and integrate these measurements and finally to develop a sound and Tier 3 compatible monitoring system of GHG emissions. The project is executed within the framework of the BSIK-KvR (BSIK-Climate Changes Spatial Planning) research program.
Bsik ME2
Integrated observations and modelling of greenhouse gas budgets at the national level in The Netherlands

To develop an advanced GHG-information system — consisting of a comprehensive set of monitoring systems, combined with a complementary suite of 3D-models — that is able to quantify the magnitude, trends and associated uncertainties of the biogenic and antropogenic greenhouse-gas budgets high spatial and temporal resolutions. While doing so, we will develop a protocol to provide an independent reference estimate for the verification of national emissions reported by the parties in the UNFCCC and Kyoto framework.

Carbonsink LBA
The Future of the Amazon Carbon Sink

The project is part of the "Large scale Biosphere Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia (LBA)" programme. LBA is a long-term Brazilian initiative to generate scientific data to better understand the functioning of Amazonia as a regional entity. It will also provide answers on how biological, chemical and physical functioning is affected by land use changes, and how these changes in Amazonia affect the global climate.
Alteddy
Alteddy software

Alteddy version 3.71 is a Visual Fortran program developed and used at Alterra for the processing of raw eddy correlation data.
